Year 4 Mrs Tibbenham

Welcome to Year 4

I hope you've all had a nice Christmas holiday and are looking forward to a great year ahead.

Spring term is off to a great start and we have lot's of exciting things planned.

This week (Friday 12th January) we have our Curriculum launch afternoon - we hope to see you there to celebrate our new topic - Amazing Inventions

This term in Maths we will be focusing mainly on multiplication and division - it is really important that children are learning their times tables at home as this will help when we learn how to multiply.

In English we are working on our new scheme called Power of Reading which is helping the children to predict, talk about different text types and work on writing pieces linked to a particular text.

Our main topic is Inventors where we will be learning about famous inventors from the past.

Science - Sound

Computing - We are software developers

Music - Glockenspiels

MFL: Festivals and dates

R.E - Christianity - symbols

P.E - Swimming and dance

History - Inventors from the past

Homework in year 4:

Reading - Children should read for 5-10 minutes every night and complete at least one entry in their reading journal answering the question that has been set.

Red homework books - Homework will be set in this book every week with tasks ranging from handwriting practice, topic activities or research tasks.

Maths - Children each have a times table tracker which is kept in school but every child knows which times table/divisions they should be practicing at home.
