Welcome to the Summer Term...one more to go until Year 5!
Summer term is now under way and we have lots of exciting things planned.
This term in Maths we will be continuing to use our new scheme (White Rose Maths) to help improve our understanding and reasoning skills. We will be mainly focusing on using money, measure, shape and statistics. We begin every lesson with some sort of counting - so we are still working hard to learn all of our times tables. We also complete a daily 8 which helps to reinforce some Mathematical concepts and revise areas of Maths we have found difficult that week. Please remember to keep practising and learning times tables at home.
In English we are working on our new scheme called Power of Reading which is helping the children to predict, talk about different text types and work on writing pieces linked to a particular text. The book we are learning about in the first part of the Summer Term is based in Tobago which will help us to form an information text all about Tobago - we will be learning about their culture, schools, foods etc.
Our main topic for the first part of the Summer Term is ROMANS!!
Science - Animals (Living things)
Computing - We are HTML editors
Music - Singing - Think Like a Roman
R.E - Sikhism - Religion and the individual
P.E - Tennis and Athletics
History - The Roman Empire and it's impact on Britain
D & T - Design and sew a Roman drawstring purse
Art - Roman Mosaics
Homework in year 4:
Reading - Children should read for 5-10 minutes every night and complete at least one entry in their reading journal answering the question that has been set.
Red homework books - Homework will be set in this book every week with tasks ranging from handwriting practice, topic activities or research tasks.
Maths - Children each have a times table tracker which is kept in school but every child knows which times table/divisions they should be practising at home.
